Automation triggers
The events that can start a SendCoop automation, from new subscribers and tags to birthdays, dates, field changes and API calls.
A trigger is the event that starts an automation for a subscriber. You choose it when you create the automation, and you can change it later by clicking the trigger at the top of the flow and choosing Change.
Available triggers
| Trigger | When it starts |
|---|---|
| Welcome new subscribers | Someone subscribes to the list. |
| Say goodbye to subscriber | Someone unsubscribes from the list. |
| Tag based | A tag is added to a subscriber. Set the Tags; any one of them starts it. |
| Remove Tag | A tag is removed from a subscriber. |
| Contact Attribute Update | A subscriber field is changed to a value you choose. Set the Subscriber field and New value. |
Say Happy birthday |
On a date stored in a field. Choose the Date of Birth field, how many days before to send, and the time. |
| Subscriber added date | On the anniversary of the day someone joined. Set the delay in days and the time. |
| Specific date | Once, on a date and time you choose. |
| Weekly recurring | On the days of the week you choose. |
| Monthly recurring | On the days of the month you choose. |
| API 3.0 | When your own system calls the automation’s API endpoint. The editor shows the POST endpoint with a Copy button. |
Which trigger should I use?
- Welcome emails: Welcome new subscribers. See Set up a welcome series.
- Abandoned cart reminders: Tag based with the tag
abandoned-cart. See Send abandoned cart reminders. - Interests and actions from forms, Zapier or the API: add a tag there, then use Tag based.
- Birthday offers: Say
Happy birthday. You need a Date field on your list.
Good to know
- You will also see an Abandoned Cart Reminder trigger in the list. For Shopify and WooCommerce stores connected under Integrations, use the Tag based trigger with
abandoned-cartinstead, as described in Send abandoned cart reminders.
