Create a segment
Group subscribers by fields, tags, activity or lead source, and send campaigns to just the people who match.
A segment is a saved filter inside a list, such as “customers in Austin” or “opened an email in the last 30 days”. It updates by itself as your contacts change.
Create a segment
- Click Audience, open the Lists tab and open your list.
- In the list menu, click Segments, then Add.
- Enter a Segment name.
- Under Match subscribers who meet, choose All (every condition must match) or Any (at least one must match).
- Click Add condition and choose a Field, an Operator and a Value.
- Add more conditions if you need them.
- Click Save segment.
What you can filter on
- List fields: any field on the list. Text fields support operators such as equal, contains, starts with, and blank or not blank. Date fields support later than, earlier than and is.
- Tag: whether a contact’s tags contain, or don’t contain, a tag.
- Activities: Last opened email and Last link click (in days), and Created date, including “in the last X days”.
- Lead source: where the contact first came from, such as the original channel, source, campaign (utm_campaign) or affiliate.
- Email verification: the Verification result, if your list has been verified.
Use a segment
- Campaigns: on the Recipients step, pick the list and then the Segment.
- Automations: when you create an automation, you can pick a Segment (optional).
- Export: export only the people in a segment. See Import and export contacts.
Tips
- Combine a tag with activity, for example “Tag contains customer” and “Last opened email less than 90 days”.
- Click a segment to see the people who match it right now.
