Use your own AI key

Connect your own Claude, OpenAI or DeepSeek API key so SendCoop's AI writing runs on your account and uses no plan credits.

You can run SendCoop’s AI features on your own AI account. Requests then go through your key and don’t use the AI credits in your plan. You pay your AI provider directly for what you use.

Before you start

  • Get an API key from one of the supported providers: Claude (Anthropic), OpenAI or DeepSeek.
  • The AI page only appears in Settings when AI writing is available on your account. If you don’t see the Use my own AI key switch, connecting your own key isn’t available for your account.

Connect your key

  1. In the left sidebar, click Settings, then AI.
  2. Switch on Use my own AI key.
  3. Choose the AI provider.
  4. Paste your key into API key.
  5. Optional: enter a Model. Leave it empty to use the recommended default for that provider.
  6. Click Save.
  7. Click Test connection to check that the key works.

The status line at the top changes to “Using your own AI key — no plan credits are used.”

Good to know

  • Keys are stored encrypted and are never shown again. When a key is saved, the field shows only its last few characters. Leave the field empty to keep the saved key.
  • If you change the provider, the saved key is cleared and you need to paste a key for the new provider.
  • To go back to the AI included in your plan, click Remove key or switch off Use my own AI key.

Troubleshooting

  • “Add your API key to use your own AI.” You switched the option on without saving a key. Paste a key and click Save.
  • The test fails. Check that the key was copied in full, that it belongs to the provider you picked, and that your provider account has billing set up.
