Show a form as a popup

Connect your website, add the tracking code and turn a SendCoop form into a popup that shows straight away, after a delay, on click or on exit.

Any form can be shown as a popup on your website. You choose when it appears: straight away, after a few seconds, when a visitor clicks something, or when they are about to leave.

Before you start

Step 1: Add your website

  1. In the left sidebar, click Sign-up forms, then the Websites tab.
  2. Click Add website and enter your site’s full address, starting with https://.
  3. Copy the Tracking code and paste it into your site just before the closing </body> tag. Most website builders have a “footer code” or “custom code” setting for this.
  4. Open any page of your site. The website shows Connected in SendCoop once the code has loaded.

Step 2: Choose when the popup shows

  1. Open the form in the builder.
  2. In the left menu, open Settings.
  3. Choose a Display trigger:
    • Immediately: as soon as the page loads.
    • First visit only: only on a visitor’s first visit (remembered with a cookie).
    • After delay: after a number of seconds. Set Wait time (seconds); the default is 5.
    • On element click: when a visitor clicks something on your page. Enter the Element ID or selector, for example #join-button or .newsletter-link.
    • On exit intent: when the mouse leaves through the top of the window, as if to close the tab. This works on desktop computers, not on phones.
  4. Optional: change the Overlay opacity (how dark the page behind the popup gets).
  5. Click Save settings, then Save, and make sure the form is published.

Step 3: Turn on the popup

  1. Go back to the Forms tab.
  2. Switch on Popup on the form’s row.
  3. Choose the website and confirm with Turn on popup.

Good to know

  • There is no scroll trigger. Use After delay to show the popup once visitors have had time to read.
  • There is no separate frequency or page-targeting setting. For a gentler popup, use First visit only or On exit intent.
  • New subscribers from popups join the form’s list, and double opt-in follows the list’s setting.

Troubleshooting

  • The website never shows Connected. Check the tracking code is on the live site (not only a draft), then reload a page.
  • The popup doesn’t appear. Check the form is published, the Popup switch is on, and the trigger is what you expect. For First visit only, try a private browser window.
  • On element click does nothing. Check the selector matches an element on the page, for example by its ID with #.
