Tag your subscribers
Add or remove tags on one contact or many at once, and use tags to build segments and start automations.
Tags are short labels, such as “vip” or “webinar”, that you attach to contacts. They are great for marking interests and actions, and they can start automations.
Tag one contact
- Open your list and click Subscribers, then View all.
- Open the contact.
- In the Tags section, type one or more tags separated by commas.
- Click Save tags.
Tag many contacts at once
- Open your list and click Subscribers, then View all.
- Tick the contacts you want. Use Select to choose the Whole page or All subscribers.
- Open Actions and choose Add tag(s) or Remove tag(s).
- Enter the tags and confirm.
Other ways tags are added
- Imports: a
tagscolumn in your file. See Import and export contacts. - Automations: an Operation step can Add tag(s) or Remove tag(s). See Automation steps: waits, conditions and actions.
- Stores: buyers get the tag
customer, and shoppers who leave a checkout getabandoned-cart. See Store settings, cart tracking and consent. - API, Zapier and other apps. See REST API basics.
Use tags
- Segments: filter on Tag contains or does not contain. See Create a segment.
- Automations: the Tag based trigger starts a flow when a tag is added, and Remove Tag starts one when a tag is removed. See Automation triggers.
Tips
- Keep tags short, lowercase and consistent, for example
viprather thanVIP customer!. - Removing a tag does not delete the contact. It only removes the label.
